Personal Trainer / Certified Athletic Trainer
I like to say that as soon as I could walk I was playing sports. It came naturally to me, so I tried multiple sports until I figured out that soccer was my sweet spot. Soccer gave me the opportunity to travel around the country in my youth and the opportunity to play collegiately at UW – Oshkosh. Up until college my career path wasn’t very clear, but once I got there I was introduced to the Athletic Training Program and I was hooked. Once I graduated with a degree in Athletic Training, I sought out other ways to be more dynamic in my career. I pursued several other certifications, listed below for your viewing pleasure, and began working as an Athletic Trainer. Quickly, I realized that my favorite part of the job was working with athletes in the gym, from a rehabilitative or preventative aspect. At this time I was working in Texas and found a second job as a personal trainer to test the waters. I was really enjoying my time there, but there was something else I knew I had to take care of… so I proposed to, my now fiancé, Megan. Together we decided that moving back to Wisconsin was ultimately what we wanted to do. We resigned at our jobs, hopped into our car with our dog, Tenley, and cruised back up to Wisconsin where I found a home at Pure Fitness.
I believe that performance is based on function. If you have poor function, or improper movement patterns, due to injury, chronic overuse, or any number of contributing factors your performance will be limited. And when I say performance I mean on the field, standing up out of a chair, dunking a basketball, walking to get the mail, and everything in between. That is why I always evaluate my client’s starting point and follow evidence based programming to personalize their workouts and guarantee the best results possible. I want my clients to feel safe, confident and comfortable while working out; I try to engage them and learn their likes and dislikes so that they enjoy what they are doing no matter how challenging I make it.
